I am looking for an EASY solution to add more bass to the Koup without taking up a lot of space and costing a lot of money. This seems like the best plug-and-play powered subwoofer I could find and I am able to get it for approx $430. I am also leasing the Koup so take that into account.

I also considered the Infinity Basslink and the JL Audio PowerWedge but this seems to be better.

Here it is on Crutchfield's site with 2 positive reviews at the bottom:
Rockford Fosgate Punch Overload PS300-12 300-watt 12" powered subwoofer at Crutchfield Signature

Here is the only review I could find for it but it is very positive:

Basically, I'm looking for any opinions or comments regarding this product.

I appreciate the responses!

eewww dont go with pre anything!!
not even sure what that means "pre"?

The most I would be looking for is one sub and one amp. I don't want things taking up a lot of space and want everything to look clean (no wires sticking out, ect.). I would also like to be able to remove it from the trunk and reinstall it with ease. All of this for under $500.

Clean and accurate sound is more important to me than volume and car vibrating.

The all in one solution seems to make sense to me unless you think they are that inferior. Plus, I am leasing the vehicle and can't mess with the wiring too much.

Again, thanks for the help.

Actually man a 10 inch if your going single sub, that would be way better than the 8 inch, that 500 watt amp would be perfect for the 10. Id do that, if might me a little bit more but not much I don't think. Here's the link to that 10, take a look at the specs, 500 watts would be in the middle
PowerBass Xtreme XL-104D Subwoofer | PowerBass USA
ok cool, the 10 is $120, so with the amp that would total $495 and maybe I can find them cheaper if I look around.

If you could ask your Powerbass guy box specs for the 10 that would be great.

Any idea what the ported box is going to cost me?

Another question NitroCircus:
Would this sub (the 2XL 104D) work with the same amp (XAX-500D)? I know it is more expensive but the description says that it is designed specifically for small sealed enclosures. Maybe this would fit my needs better. But, would it require a more expensive amp too?

Anyway, let me know when you get a chance. Thanks again!

First: yea this amp will work with that sub too.
Second: When I first started getting into Powerbass I ask that same question to my friend that does the boxes and he showed me a sealed box to Powerbass's specs, and a ported box to his specs. The sub was literally 3 times as loud when he made the box his way. Trust me, we call him " the box god " around here lol.
Oh and yea the 2XL has more throw and power handling, and by what I mean by more throw I mean how far the sub moves back and forth.
Do you listen to Rock, or Rap, Country? If rock/country people usually go with a 10 because the 10 is more tight, which means you will feel the punch when the bass hits, if its rap you listen to I would go with a 12 because its more loose and able to produce the low bass.
I know you don't want loud and for it to not take up a lot of space but I'm just trying to help you get the best bang for the buck, and honestly a single 12 in a ported box don't take up that much of the trunk, here's a pic of someone elses off this site http://www.forteforums.com/forums/a...83-july-forte-month-koup-edition-dsc04167.jpg
he has is setting in the middle of the trunk, if it was set to the side a little bit more and pushed back, their would still be a lot of room.
I listen to mostly rock(alternative/punk/metal) but also electronica(trance/house). I NEVER listen to rap or hip-hop.

So, it sounds like a 10 would be best for me. Its just which 10. Do you think its worth it to spend the extra $70 for the 2XL sub? Would the 2XL require a larger enclosure? I'll trust you on your 'box gods' specs lol.

I'm assuming you feel that PowerBass make some of the best subs and amps in the business? I ask this because I'm not familiar with them.

Also, with a set up like this will I be able to easily remove the amp and box if I need the trunk space? When I turn in the lease is it going to be a hassle to get everything back to 'normal'? Maybe I can have the amp mounted to the box so it doesnt need to be secured to the actual vehicle?

Sorry for all the questions, lol.

yea it will require a little bit more space, but not much I wouldn't think, I will be sure to get box specs for both subs that way you can see the difference, yes powerbass has some good stuff IMO, and yea you can have the amp mounted to that box.

The only thing that you will need to hook it all up is a amp kit somewhere around a 500 watt kit or a little over if they don't have that.

I don't work today, so give me some time and I will show you what you need to do when you get the amp kit, Ill take pics and post them up for ya.
awesome!

Wow, thanks for the detailed instructions. But, this is what I was afraid of. I've never attempted anything like this on a car before. Hmmm, I guess I could always take it to a shop and pay $100 or whatever for the install but I should probably at least give it a try.

I change vehicles at least every 3 years and just wish there was an easier solution for adding an amp/sub.

OK, let me add up what everything will cost and see if I have this right:

PowerBass Xtreme XAX-500D Amp = $295
PowerBass Xtreme 2XL-104D Sub = $200
10" Ported Sub Enclosure and Grill = $100 (approx)
Installation Accessories = $100 (approx)
Installation at Shop = $100 (approx)

Total = $795 (approx)

Does this sound about right?

Sounds close, If I lived closer I would help you install it. Oh and here box specs I told you I would get.

For the 2xl 10" he said the box needs to be (ported)
Port 17 deep
25 square port
2 cube total

Take that to your box guy and he should know what to do. If he argues about the cubes or anything about the box with you just tell him to do it lol
ok, thanks
you wouldn't happen to know the dimensions of the enclosure in inches(height, width, length) so I can get a good idea of how much trunk space it will take up
