There is a reason why that annoying alert is there... to annoy you and remind you that it can save your life! if you don't believe me watch this:

On the other hand if say you are parked and doing work to you car and happen to have the door open with the alert chiming all the time you can turn it off by connecting the seatbelt and disconnecting it once or sometimes even by pushing the red section to fool the computer into thinking its connected.

But please if it was the first option, DON'T BE STUPID and wear your seatbelt.
i think wearing it turns it off..... :D:rolleyes:

This thread makes me laugh...LoL ...and no, I don't have an answer - but I'm enjoying the discussion...

this thread is as annoying as the chime is!!! sensable answers would be good.
Wearing the seatbelt is the most sensible answer I have seen here. I know of a few people close to me that would be around still if they had listened to that answer.

Maybe this answer is annoying too! I do know how to turn off the chime...but I'm not gonna tell:p! Everyone should wear their seat belts. They save lives! If you don't care about your life then connect the seat belt then sit on it!! After you crash and the rescue team pulls your lifeless body out of the wreckage, at least they will know that you weren't forgetful and forgot to buckle-up...you were just stupid and deliberately didn't buckle-up!
I think it has all been said already, but I really hope for your sake that the worst you ever get is a seat belt fine.
Personally, I just put a piece of black electrical tape over the warning light and turn up the stereo REAL loud...
only reason to silence the chime while driving
1)got a deathwish
2)got supersensative hearing
3)dont have a favorite song to listen to before being turned into hamburger

but seriously- if you wanna try it....aint gonna do any of these mods myself-
i see 2 quick and cheap ways
1)plug seatbelt in. then sit on top of it. when you get out of the car- leave it like that. upon entering car again- do #1 again.

this one is for the really crazy ones out there-
2)cut the seatbelt. let the belts retract up as far as they can do- might have to jiggle them a bit- but once the belts stop retracting- cut the dangling ends off-
you kept the buckle bit? good- plug that into the seatbelt socket- then go off and have fun!!!

oh- thought of a third one

3) go to the kia site w/all the electrical diagrams-
they got all the schematics for the electronics that control all sorts of neat things like the airbags, the brakes, etc.....who knows? perhaps with enough digging around there- someone can come up with a neat air bag trick to get that hot chick sitting in the passenger seat to "jump" on over into the drivers lap...... after all- the side airbags should come in handy somehow- right? (oh wait- i realized that i was being sexist- above mentions of "hot chick" can be substituted with "hot guy")

I have been in two different accidents that the Paramedics/EMTs/police stated if I HAD been wearing my seatbelt that I would have at the very least been permanently injured if not dead. Yes two. I broke that One in a million statement on a few different things.

Even with that being said, I am wearing my seatbelt everytime I get in my Koup. IIRC though, the alarm goes off after roughly a half hour or so but I do not know for sure about that.
well I guess the answer is NO.... WTF there is some pretty foolish replies on here!! THANKS FOR THE LAUGH!!
well, yes thers most likely a way to unhook the fuse, wire etc.. question is
what else is part of that fuse block?
you could indeed look at the wirring codes and cut that wire for sound buzer and then you could pull the wire for the light or pull the light itself from the dash.

Thats lots of work but that would be the only way other then the cut the seat belt one lol you might be a red neck if.. LOL

Oh I take no responsablity for your actions above, do this at your own risk.

thanks raven...... not exactly what im lookin to do.... but it will work.. I will check it out!!
Your welcome.:)
I believe in Darwinism at its finest so I would encourage anyone that thinks a seat belt is that bad to disable the warning.

Did they at least write you a ticket for not wearing the seatbelts after stating that or is it not the law in your area?
