SEMA 2010: Kia Unveils Forte Koupe Type R Concept in Las Vegas | AutoGuide.com News

Inspired by the excitement and competition Kia experienced in its inaugural season of racing in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, and with an eye on future production vehicle applications, the Kia Forte Koup Type R Concept confidently showcases the performance possibilities Kia’s first two-door coupe provides. Developed by Kinetic Motorsports, who built and campaigns Kia’s Forte Koup race cars, the Type R features dramatically enhanced exterior panels that exaggerate the existing body lines, including the front fenders, rocker panels and rear quarter panels. The Forte Koup Type R rolls on BBS RG 18-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels and racing-inspired tires and suspension components. Inside, the Forte Koup Type R’s modified interior offers ergonomic improvements for the driver, while custom seat/door treatments and safety restraints reflect its sporty nature. A short throw shift kit with Kinetic gear shift knob and carbon inlay complements the dampened composite fiber disc clutch to enhance the driving experience.

yeah i love the matt titanium look. The fender flares and the rear bumper. I'm curious what they mean by "ergonomic improvements" for the driver.

....oh, and there's a hybrid version too. Whatever.

The car looks great. I wish they did more than just make it look pretty though. Give it a turbo or something, or make it the Forte's version of a SI.

it dosent say it dosent have one... so it might.... but this picture

it deff has alot of NEW stuff

very interested in the tires/wheels... 245(fr) vs 255(re).. staggered fitment. BBS RG 18x8.5 Single-piece forged!! :D.

Also Clutch kit. Flywheel and IT HAS A LSD! :) Also Strut bar with carbonfiber inlay mmm.. tasty.

Not to mention that its wide-bodied :D

I swore they must had seen the Forte community do the headlight swap with Koups and Sedans. The Type R concept Koup headlight has a black interior! Also in love with the new body styling, especially the lip kit.

Not a big fan of the new Koup logo on the back of the car or the spoiler. The sequence spoiler in my opinion is the look they should have gone for. Much bolder than the small, don't want to attract attention spoiler on the Type R concept. Would rather even have a more pronounced lip spoiler. Also the shift knob looks a little ridiculous. Then again this is a concept so everything is subject to change, hopefully for the better.

well what are the chances that they actually keep this concept and dont mess with it? the original concept was far nicer than what the went with for final product. i doubt we'll see a lot of these features on the type R concept

I know on the link it says it has a modified suspension but that doesn't necessarily mean its been lowered right? Reason I ask is because I want a thicker tire (doing a 215/40R18 right now) to tighten up the gap just a little bit more with the Eibach springs.

Theres no way I think I could fit the 245/35R18 that Kinetic is doing but I might be wrong. Any ideas on how thick I could go without rubbing issues (that's what she said!)?
