My SX doesn't do it. Doesn't even turn the interior lights on when you unlock the car. Kia did not sweat the details when it came to lights.

 

You're going to need a module to do that. Same for the dome light security. Not too hard to set up by what I've heard but I don't do electrical lol. I'm sure you can find it if you google it. I know most alarm systems (not the factory keyless entry) come with these basic features and you find a decent one for fairly cheap

 

What you're looking for is a Courtesy Light Extender module. Google can show you lots of them.

Yeah, Kia dropped the ball on this one. Having the headlights on until you can unlock your door and get in the house is a feature that we will miss.

I'm sure my Kia dealer would say that any electrical modification would void my warranty. They told me that adding factory fog lights to my Soul would void the warranty, even if they did the work themselves!

 

 

If they say fogs void the warranty, they may as well say that a cargo net will too

 

I take my cargo net out when I take it in for service, then put it back in place when I get home.

 

So any one actually looking into doing this? I have checked the key illumination and it works exactly as we would like it to. It remains on for 30 secs exactly. So if someone knows what he is doing it could link the dome lights to the same mechanism.. sounds simple but I have no idea how it should be done

 

I'd say a simple relay circuit that is driven from the key illumination power to energize the dome light and or head lights would be pretty easy to wire up. Know of a good place to get the wire schematic for the kias for free to check my theory?
