I am at the point that I want to install new speakers and a sub. I have all the components but have no idea where to start.

I have a Hi/Lo pass so I can keep the stock head unit, a 4 channel amp, a mono amp, 1F capacitor, 2 x 5.25 mids, 2 x tweets, and 12" in a box.

Has anyone else installed a sub, replaced the tweeters, or replaced the speakers in the doors? And is there somewhere to get info on the stereo wiring in the koupe?

I had my stereo guy put in new tweeters and ran my exsisting Bazooka bass tube to the back speakers so I could control the bass through the fader. It sounds good, but I would still like it to be a little stronger.

I installed just a mono channel amp with one 12" sub. I spliced into the stock tweeter harness at the door and installed the hi/lo converter. Then RCA cables from the hi/lo converter to the mono channel amp. I kept all 6 speakers stock and the sub hits hard. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I am assuming then that there is a passive crossover at the tweeter itself therefore you were receiving full range signal at the point where you tapped in? That's good to know, thanks!

My plan is to tap into the both front and rear harnesses. I'll run a hi/lo off the fronts to a 4-channel for the doors and back seat speakers and I'll run a hi/lo off the rear to a mono for sub.

I'll use gain control on the 4 channel amp to balance the front to rear fade of the speakers. Generally I never mess with the fade control on a stereo once I have those levels set so doing that with the amp isn't an inconvenience for me.

By wiring it this way, the rear fade directly controls input level to the mono amp for the sub.
