So i finaly decided that i was going to change the taillights on my trunk so that they would be brake lights as well. I knew before I started that there were dual filament bulbs on the trunk, but what I didnt know was that the socket wasnt able to take two wires for the bulb. I cant solder, and my dealer checked and could not the the part.

This is where you come in. I need to know a way to get past this. It could be either a socket that fits the forte from another car, or maybe an alternative to the soldering.

Help?

People have done this before, I think you just put a spade connector on the end and it inserts into the socket.

Actually, you either have to find an auto electric shop that might have a contact that will fit into your existing socket or you have to make it up. ( made my own with a strip of brass and soldering iron.

1st off, why can you not solder? It's fairly easy. Just practice on some junk wire first. 2nd, you could do the mod w/o soldering. Your splices/tap won't be as sturdy, but wouldn't present much of an issue. 3rd, if all else fails buy this
1157 Xenon LED Light Bulb Extension Socket Connector | eBay and cut your old connectors off and use butt connectors (I'd prefer to solder but if you can't they will work)

I used a Solding iron and stuck it down the left side of the connector, where the wire should be but isnt. Then I removed the connectors from a spare socket, solder them, and slid it down the hole from the solding iron. Kinda jimmy-rigged i know. but it works great. I can post pics if you want.

I want to make it so the tail lights are also the turn indicators. Both on each side. I think it'd look awesome. I think it's how the Corvette and Camaro do it....

A few days ago I ran across a part number from Napa made by Echlin that someone posted for a replacement socket for this mod, but in a fit of stupidity I forgot to write it down and it seems to have gone missing on the forums. Could anyone possibly throw that part number my way please?
