I got the upper engine and transmission mount inserts and installed them today. They made a huge difference, so much so that I’m getting them for my Volvos too. No more clunking on and off the throttle, rev matched downshifts are insanely easy and satisfying without any clunking, the throttle is more direct, and overall the driving experience is far better. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yep! And they make the 2.0L into a properly good sporty engine. It’s still not fast - think Miata - but with a short shifter, short gearing, peak power just off redline, a super light single mass flywheel from the factory, and now very little driveline slop, it reminds me more of my dads old 997 Porsche 911 C2S 6-speed than an economy car. It’s wonderful.

I did have to sand the edge of the plate on the driver side mount since it was vibrating under heavy load in 1st and 2nd gear but I only had to take off like 1/8” and it’s fine now.

Nice! What part of the plate did you grind down? I'm experiencing the same. I haven't found the time to look into it.

Right side of that plate that comes with the bushing. Just took a little bit off the whole right side and especially the corners. Probably pulled 1/8” out of the corners on that side and 1/16” out of the whole thing on that side. Did the trick. You might have to do a little more because you’re making significantly more power than me.

I guess the N cars have harder mounts. I haven't read anything about the rattles on the forums or YouTube.

I hadn't either, although as far as I can tell I'm the first one to put these mounts in a 2.0L-powered car.

I'm almost tempted to remove these bushings and install them on my wife's Seltos and order the race inserts. Lol
Do it! LOL. Not sure how much of a difference it would make on an auto though.

How much does it keep the engine from flopping around? Im curious about it because I’m having issues with the Downpipe working loose and I’m thinking less movement may help.

It has movement still, but it a lot less than without. Maybe almost an inch less. You can move the engine a lot with your hands. You might want to also look into the lower mount. Powerflex has 2 rear mounts bushings, one for the rear like everyone has and the one that replaces the pressed bushing that connects to the engine bracket.Hyundai Veloster Lower Torque Mount Small Bushing

Far less movement with the mounts. It still has some slight movement, but you take like 1-1.5 inches of play out of the engine. They should definitely help your issue if that’s what’s causing it. A few people on the Volvo forums had issues with the downpipe coming apart on their cars and adding engine mount bushing inserts fixed their problem.

That’s what I’m thinking...

I have been procrastinating on readjusting the ride height for the front end of the car. A stock car measures 26-½" from ground to fender arc. I had the car initially set at 25-¼" and it rode smoothly, absorbing bump well. Then I set the height to 24-¾" and it still absorbed the bumps, but not as well as the initial setting. I would hit the cross member over speed bumps when the suspension would compress while over the bump on the downward. It looks like even with the roll center/bumpsteer kit, the best height from ground to fender arc is 25" or 1-½" lower than stock. The bumps are absorbed much better and I gain a bit more grip in the front end.

Here I am at it again, putting parts not made for the Forte. Lol
Freshly installed Ultra Racing mid chassis bar. You will use the existing bolts (4) to mount this bar.I slightly deviated from the mounting (no instructions, but hey, it's only 4 bolts).
1. I put some washers to distribute the torque more further than just the bolt head.
2. No torque specs so I just torqued them down to 25 ft/lbs.

Made for an AD Elantra, fit the BD Forte, too.
Driving impressions soon. I had to drink some coffee to get some motivation. Lol
Happy St Patty's weekend everyone!

I'm doing an oil change this week and did some stuff prior to the oil change. I cleaned the air filter and pre-filter, then drained the oil catch can.

Quick tip: If you have a drain valve for your catch can, shove something in like a zip tie through. The drain valve can get clogged.

"While I was in there".......I went in and reconfigured the vacuum lines on the BOV. So far, I tried pull mode with ports A and B, push mode with ports A and B, then back to pull mode A and B. Pull/A+B works much better. Now, I'm going to try what was recommended by my friend, pull mode with port b. He told me it's the quickest configuration. Monday's morning commute is going to be fun.

I'll give a review of the mid chassis bar and BOV configuration after work tomorrow.

There are 2 types of BOVs. Push and pull types.
Examples of push types (majority of them) GFB mach 2 (and all of them in the GFB line up) which pressure in the vacuum line and spring closes the valve, manifold vacuum and pressure in the intercooler pipe opens it. The pull type is when the pressure in the intercooler pipe and in the vacuum line shuts the valve closed and opens when there is vacuum in the vacuum port of the BOV. An example of a pull type is the HKS SSQV BOV. My BOV can be ran in either or. My BOV has 2 vacuum ports and can be used to tune the BOV along with spring preload.
