Hi guys, my name is Nick and i live in Detroit Michigan. Went to the dealer to pick up a Kia Forte sedan LX. Basic basic basic. Even crank windows :/ But hey, i just need a car thats a manual transmission and drives. We were getting ready to start paperwork but none of us realized it was 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, and there was no way in hell a bank was going to respond to a credit app hahahah. So Monday we got back and i pick up the car. It is going to be my first brand new car and i cant wait. I have had the absolute worst luck with cars since i started driving. I just went through paper work the other day...Im only 20 years old and i have spent just about $20,000 on cars, repairs, parts, labor, etc. Nuts, eh? I really cant wait until the after market parts start pouring out, cause i know they are kind of scarce at the moment.

A little about myself, I love music, computers, cars, technology, graphic design, beer, and laughter. Favorite bands? Coheed and Cambria, Blink 182, A day to Remember, Akissforjersey, Taking Back Sunday, Dead Letter Circus, Enter Shikari, Odayin, 311, Deftones, Incubus, Say Anything, Hit The Lights, Cinematic Orchestra, Imogen Heap....etc. etc. I work at Jimmy Johns and Best Buy and am going to school for Graphic Design.

A little car history:

1st car : 2001 Grand Prix Coupe, 90k miles, threw a rod in 2 days. DEAD.

2nd Car : 1999 Buick Regal, 99k miles, threw a rod in 6 months. DEAD

3rd Car : 2001 Kia Spectra GSX Hatch. Owned for a year and a half. 130k miles. My first stick shift :) this car was the biggest heap of junk, was completely smashed in the front end, transmission grinded in two gears, windshield had a million cracks, had a bad CV joint i drove on for 1 and 1/2 years....car sounded like an airplane. But this car lasted me the longest. Bought it for 500 bucks. Sold it because my next car came along and i couldn't pass it up. Should have never sold my Kia....Sold it to a buddy in need for 300 bucks. Still running strong to this day :)

4th Car: 2001 VW Jetta. 140,000 miles. Bought for 3200. Within 2,000 miles timing belt went and bent valves and fucked the engine. Totalled the car. Orig owner said he replaced both the timing belt and water pump, but never did. Liars man...had this car for 3 months.

5th car: FORTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Pictures to come Monday :) 2010 Forte, sedan, black, 5 speed manual. :)

I love my computer...

and i love my puppy...

and i love photography...

So there is a bit about me! Hope you enjoyed reading, and you can sure as hell bet i'll be around :)

Ha they must have known that you had some crap luck with cars, I had my Forte almost a week before I signed for it and then convinced them to let me have a sedona for a week too. It was Thanksgiving and I wanted to roadtrip in comfort. He said sure go pick one out, and I made sure it had every option..

But, hey this one better last ya the 100,000 (or at least we'll soon learn what the warrenty won't cover ;))

Welcome.. :)

My dad today actually told me he gave the salesman a sob story on my shitty luck with cars and he knocked off a couple hundred :) And i don't know if its just my dealership or not, but they do not work on commission, and doing business with a non commission salesman is so much better...

awesome! ive had 7 cars before my kia, and im 27! i got a 2010 white LX 5 speed, and i love it! nice to see another LX on this site! hope it goes well for ya!
Thanks man!

Welcome....Did you throw on the bra after the accident to the Kia Spectra???? haha
My friend who i bought it from did lol. Hm.....thousands of dollars in repairs? or 50 bucks for a cover up? lol.

Welcome, hopefully your Forte lasts you alot longer than those other cars!
Thanks man! me too!

Welcome! I also have a KIA Forte Sedan LX, my first new car as well.. I bought it new when I was 19 (a year and a half ago) so I can very much relate. My previous cars were a 1994 ford Thunderbird (traded as a "clunker" for the Forte) and a 1995 Honda accord (which I still have).

BTW, the 2011 has the six-speed trans on it and a 2010 Forte Sedan EX-manual is (I believe) about $700 more than the 2010 LX (so the power options maybe worth while)...

Well because of the situation I'm in, I don't really have too much of a say in want. I still owed 2500$ on the Jetta when it died, so Kia is paying that off and counting it on negative equity and rolling it over to my new loan. So that adds 2500$ onto whatever I'm paying for the car (which is like 15,100 i think) And the car I'm buying was used for test drives (with only 90 miles on it), so with the rebates and stuff I'm getting $2500 knocked off the price. Any other car is going to be a little more expensive, and i don't have money to spare unfortunately.

Although while I was typing this my dad just found a 2011 Forte LX that has cruise (not sure about power options) $15,785. Thats only $275 above the MSRP the guy at the other dealer is giving us on a 2010. FISHYYYYY.

Well I'm off to school my dad is going to call on it. I'll keep you guys updated!

So I called the dealer at 10am, and he did not call me back until 5:30 to tell me if our credit was approved or not. I have a good credit score, my dad is right under me. Told me our interest rate was going to be 9%. Told me to call my bank and see what it would be if i went through them. HEY DIPSHIT ITS 5pm BANKS ARE CLOSED.

Pissed off. Told me my interest was gonna be around 3%.
