The math says it's closer to 401 -229+87.2 + approximately the 85 left on the tank at fill-up. I'm pretty sure I've never driven out of the station with 401 range. I'll have to get the exact number the next time I fill up.

I average about 10k miles per year on my cars. I got the Forte in July so 4400k miles is right on average for me.

I've always found the gas mileage usually levels out after about 2000 miles or so on the odometer. It usually keeps getting better up to about that. At 4400 it's probably about as good as its going to get.

I have a Scangauge temporarily connected to our '16 1.8, it shows MPG = 9999 when fuel cuts off 🤣
Much greater than the Kia readout!

I would much rather row my own gears even if it meant worse gas mileage but car needed to be drivable by other members of the family. I will say the IVT impresses with fuel economy. I've also driven cars with much worse CVT transmissions.

That's my secret too, having a steady foot on the pedal works magic. I barely use the cruise control unless my foot gets tired, but my wife doesn't understand the trick. Her foot is as heavy as a lead brick. 😑

Absolutely. Mine is also MT, and in 'Sport' mode it averages 34 MPG on the highway at a cruising speed of 65 or 70 MPH. I don't use 'Sport' mode on back roads or where max speed is 40 MPH.

I was curious about this, and filled it up this morning. It reads 418, but still confused on how to do a proper calculation to test the accuracy of the readings.

My DCT appears to be getting MT range for total miles according to the EPA website. Hahaha. I know the range doesn't matter all that much. I'm just determined to get my MPG up to 27.

Do you always go to the same gas station? Maybe try gassing up at a different brand/place for a few tanks and see if there's any difference. I find I can get wildly different mileage from gassing up at different places. Just be sure to only go to top tier stations though. However I must admit, when I went on a 2,000 mile roadtrip this past summer, I filled up a few times at a non-top tier station (which is still a pretty big chain around here) and I got fantastic gas mileage, even better than when filling up at the Mobil or Shell. 🤷‍♂️

If you have MPI it probably doesn't matter what Fuel you use. Top Tier for the GDI is recommended otherwise use Techron fuel system additive every 7500 miles.

The still recommend fuel cleaner with the MPI but I don't believe it's necessary

It's really not necessary with an MPI engine, the intake valve is constantly being washed with gasoline.

I really have my doubts how it could even help clean the intake valves on a GDI engine. On the GDI engines with an Atkinson cycle Techron might do something.
