I don't know what, when or where, but something really nasty fell on my hood. Something so nasty that it burned a HOLE in my paint. It looks like an acid burn, to be exact. I think it looks too small to be a bird's dropping, to be honest. My dad suggested some soldering spark was responsible.

It got to the metal, since I can see silver underneath the little hole, where there are some remnants of paint. It's a little smaller than a US dime. I discovered it while washing it last Friday, and have been depressed ever since

I was thinking of ordering the paint pen and taking it to the dealership to see what they can do. I'm aware that ultimately, I'll have to get the whole thing painted, but I don't have the cash to do that now (I wish I did) Do you think the paint pen will work? I'll take some pictures later so you can see it... and maybe get a response that isn't totally what I'm expecting...

First sorry to hear about your hood. You should get the paint pen, open it up and use a quality brush to carefully fill in the damage. Do this over a period of time, meaning brush on a thin layer and let it dry, then brush another thin layer and let it dry. Build it up slowly and patiently. Then you can use a polish to even it out followed by a wax. No need to paint it if you do the paint job slowly.

^^^this is the best way if you're limited on cash. Take your time and fill in only the damaged area (don't get it on the edges). It's like filling a pool but it will take time...and when you almost have it level with the paint surfaces around it begin to finish filling it with a clear paint to get the best results. Patience is required...will take time to do it right.
