Got a ticket today after my 4th warning in a row, one of which was 3 weeks ago! The cop was a douche. I was on a 2 lane hwy here in Florida. I passed a guy in a 55 zone doing 65. A sheriff who was a 100yrds off heading in the opposite direction towards me saw me pulled me over and gave me a ticket. He also said I practically ran the guy off the road who I passed. I did nothing of the sort. He also told me that was wreckless driving. he came back and gave me a ticket for 10 over. Like really. Are you serious. I sped up to pass somebody doing 45 on a 55mph hwy pulling a trailer. So freaking pissed. Going to call my ticket attorney and have him handle it like he always does and makes them go away like nothing happened. I hope I waste his time pulling his ass into court LOL. Never had a ticket for over 10. 15 and 20 yes. $190!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had one of those and I still get busted lol. and the FL sun cooks them in the windshield. I have had 2 that just fried themself to death because of the heat. I know I try to slow down. The other tickets were with my mustang gt. But hello I was passing somebody of course I'm going to speed up when I pass them on 2 lane hwy or you will never get around them.

I will admit that the Forte is REALLY easy to speed in and it feels wrong if you're not doing 15 over, but dude, learn the behaviors of the police. Slow up before you crest a hill. A radar detector only works when used with good discretion. It will notify you 1/4 mile before the cop can usually trace you (unless it's a state boy with a Laser, then you're fuct no matter what), in 1/4 mile that only gives you enough time to judiciously slow down 10 mph without slamming on the brakes when you're doing anything over 55.

Speeding tips:
1. Use the radar detector to strategically speed.
2. Go the speed limit when you crest hills. The cops lie in wait on the other side.
3. After you crest the hill, and the radar detector doesn't go off, you can speed until the crest of the next hill or curve in the road.
4. Don't go faster than you can slow down to the speed limit within 1/4 mile after the radar detector goes off.
5. Take the same route, learn where the cops like to hide.
6. Learn where the radar detector goes off when passing specific radio towers or commercial buildings so you know where the false positives are.

You have a ticket attorney?? Nice.

From the sound of it though, you could have passed the guy easily without breaking 55. I mean, you're breaking the law, even if you're only exceed the speed limit to pass someone. Can't really complain too much. /shrug

Still, sucks that you got caught.

I feel for you man. 10 over? Then the prick cop probably tried to make you feel like he was doing you a favor by not giving you a reckless driving.
Anyway, I believe Escort makes a new X-K detector that looks like (and is) a navi, so it blends in with all the people using after-market Navigation systems. They are illegal here in Virginia, and in DC. I know how easy it is to wind out our Forte's. It really has a nice punch to it. Not really fast...more like "nimble". I wish they would come out with a turbo.

it was just sooooooo stupid....yeah what am I going to do. Pass him the same speed he is going. How the hell am I going to get around him quick enough to pass safely. Gimme a freaking break. Who the hell doesn't speed up to pass on a 2 lane HWY. MAKES NO SENSE! This is BS!!! The attorney is $90 to represent me in Hillsborough county. Guy was a total prick. Don't lecture me asshole just give me the ticket so I can be on my way. It literally took him 15 minutes to write it up. Maybe it won't hit the system like one I had before. All my recent tickets the cops actually print the damn thing in their car, this one was hand written. Maybe I need to get one of Florida specialty plates that say Support Law Enforcement... LOL This whole ticket attorney thing is a scam. You hire an attorney, the attorney takes the judge out for golf and drinks and it's a done deal. LOL

I'm not sure I understand your logic. You said the guy you were passing was doing 45, so you could have gone the speed limit at 55 and passed.

You keep calling this cop a douche but it sounds like you're constantly speeding and earning these tickets. You also seem to know so much about the judicial system. I speed all the time and have been doing so ever since I got my license and I don't have one ticket. It's all about when and where you speed.

Thanks for posting what everyone was thinking. Tough love. I posted similar last night and decided to delete my post because being a female, it is always perceived as being mean-spirited. :)

Hillsborough out in Wimauma. Well when you pass especially on a 2 lane hwy you need to do it quick. Well whatever, this is an easy one to get out of. I'd rather pay my attorney than government who isn't spending our money wisely. lol
