Touch up pen cost doubled?

Chip on passenger door, not from a door ding so must have been a side glance. Small and no scratching around the missing chip. The touch up paint given with car was dryed up and upon attempt to purchase one they had gone up from $19 to I went to parts window
@Andy Mohr Kia in Avon IN (Indianapolis). They were $19 online. Here at Andy's they want $42. No thanks. 4000 miles on this GT and three paint chips. More than I had on my prior vehicle after 3 years. How can a touch up pen double in cost in 2 months? Looks like Kia trying to make a big profit of lower quality paint jobs. Not a good experience Andy Mohr Kia.

That doesn't surprise me at all... I'm in the auto parts business and everything has gone up exponentially in the last year. Hell, look at your grocery store receipt

But they are still less than half of that price online. Avoid Stealerships when possible.

You can literally order a OEM KIA paint pen from Amazon, surprisingly they a bunch of options
A good dealership will get my business. One price gouge and I'm gone to somewhere else.

Redemption is possible, however. My local Kia store used to be every bit of a stealership. Business for them cratered and the joint was sold to a regional chain who cleaned things up. They are struggling to overcome the old reputation. First class service at a fair price will keep me coming back.

I got an ABP (Aurora Black Pearl) pen a month ago for $9.99 off Amazon.

Automotivetouchup.com. I bought from them when the side view mirrors, handles, interior handles, AC vents. Console shift bezel trim.
Check out Amazon seller Hawkinson Nissan. They also have a Kia Dealership and sell these cheap.
I'd like to suggest looking for a NAPA Auto that does paint. I've had them make small touch up batches for my cars/trucks AND my mountain bikes - each time was flawless! They bring their handy dandy color scanner out, and voila - $23 buck later I have the equivalent of ~5 of those smaller overpriced 'Duplicolor' paint pens. Colors fade so going this route ensures you have a perfect match for your baby(ies). Cheers!

Least you can get your color from KIA tho. I've been looking for an official Sporty Blue pen myself for awhile now.

I didn't receive any touch up paint when I bought my Forte so I had to purchase separately. For a Deep Sea Blue Paint Pen (UA016 TU5014B2RA), I paid $9.85 back in 2021 but my local dealer priced matched another dealership website (Factory OEM Auto Parts & Accessories | TascaParts.com). I checked Tasca's website today and the same paint pen only went up 4 cents. My guess is that your dealership is trying to get you to pay over MSRP. I did pay over MSRP once for a cabin filter at a local Hyundai dealership when I had the Sonata, it hasn't happened again since. They got me to agree to buy the filter while the car was in for service and before I had a chance to check online prices. I always agree on the prices via email or phone before ordering parts. If I can't arrange in advance, I ask them to price match based on a print out from an online dealer.

My 35mile away dealership Mike Shaw Kia doesn't price match sh!t. I only go buy the oem/factory filters from them.
As has been said before, it’d be nice to have a Sporty Blue paint pen.
