Transmission fluid change?

Will this void my warranty if I chose to replace the tranny fluid with something a little better? I want to switch out the fluid with some Royal Purple before the winter hits (for smoother shifting). Good idea, or bad?

The warranty can only be voided if there is proof that the mod or aftermarket replacement was the direct cause of the malfunction/brake/damage. Your dealer may tell you different, but the only thing I got out of my forte book and literature was to keep up on maintenance per kia schedule.
He's in Canada where laws may be different. But along with the motor oil, the user's manual should state the type of oil to use(not brand) and as long as you are using what they recommend you should be good.

Royal Purple will not make your car 'smoother shifting'. Your car is new and it should shift properly to begin with. If it doesn't then bring it in for warranty service.
Redline MT-90 made my Mazda shift a lot better, especially the 1-2 shift. It hasn't really affected my Koup, but I haven't driven it in cold weather since the swap.
As long as the replacement oil is 75W90 or similar (not a straight 60W, for example) I can't see much of a problem - or a change. As far as warranty is concerned... when a Forte manual is killed it's from 'speed shifting' and 'grinding gears' and not from poor lubrication. So far I have seen two manuals piled in... both had synchros completely seized. As long as some oil comes out when we drain them, and it's not black and burnt, then warranty will step up for the bill.

It does shift great right now, as a new car should but I used Royal Purple in my mazda and the difference was quite noticable. Especially in the winter.

Thanks for the info KiaTech!
