The car is on but the engine isn't running so the car thinks there's a malfunction? Dunno.

Anyway, almost all, if not all, cars do that. It's normal, don't worry about it.

When the key is on, but the engine isn't running, the warning light stays on to show that it (the light itself) is working. It is designed to work that way; It is part of the KOEO test (means Key On Engine Off).

 

Exactly, every car does this, all your lights should come on to show that why are working. This is normal.
