Water spots on windows

Please help. I have searched the forum and Google but nothing has worked. Ever since I bought the car I have had really bad water spots on all of my windows. One person posted getting a #0000 steel wool pad and use that. No one posted any replies to that, so I haven't tried that one yet. But I have tried Windex, car soap and razor blade, vinegar and water, Vinegar soaked towels, rainX, Griot's Garage window clay and good ole elbow grease but nothing will get the damn spots off my windows. Does anybody know any other trick I have not tried? Or a special product? Thanks for the help.

Sorry to hear about the spot trouble. My first reaction was to try the Griot's clay.

Since the spots are probably some kind of calcium deposit, you might want to try a calcium cleaner like "CLR" (Calcium/Lime/Rust cleaner). You can get CLR anywhere - like a grocery store or a home center. I would use the CLR very carefully since I don't know how the paint/trim would react to this stuff. Try putting a small amount directly onto a cloth and starting at the center of the window. Clean a small area first, just to check.

Have you tried purple power or Mr. Awesome (aka, totally awesome)? A really strong degreaser/heavy duty cleaner usually cleans them.

You sure they aren't on the inside? :p

I say try a claybar to see if that works. If not use a degreaser like stated, but honestly if you tried a razor blade and that didn't work you might not have much hope.

Try a mix of 50/50 of pure rubbing alcohol and pure distilled white vinegar. Its likely hard water spots.

I can only recommend what I use.

I use Armor All Glass Wipes. These things are absolutely fantastic. They remove all water spots from the glass and leave them perfect.

i used to have those exact same water spots you're talking about. Purple power and point blank power-washing (3500 PSI) took them out. (especially after a wash or 2)

Wouldn't that be a slap in the face! haha Definitely on the outside, But did think that maybe they were under the tint. But the windshield was my give-away.
Washed the car today. Tried CLR. Nothing was removed. Can they be baked into the glass? I ran my fingers over the spots and it feels smooth, no raised bumps or anything. I'll try Noodile's idea and see if I can find Purple power or Mr. Awesome.
I tried to upload a pic of the spots on the windshield, but It's kind of hard to capture the spots. Thanks for the help guys.

I detail cars professionally. What I use is #0000 steel wool and some wheel acid. I don't exactally where you will find a wheel acid in any store but I know for a fact that it will remove 90% of water spots off windows. If you do by chance find some wheel acid, it is best to do small spots at at time and remove fairly quickly as it will stain the glass if left too long.

I would try BonAmi,car polish(not wax),or ask an auto or home glass installer what they would do/use. The spots DO show in your pic & are ugly. Good luck & let us know if a cure is found. (Other than a hammer!)

I've also used BonAmi. It works very well. Just wash the whole car once your done. The white residue gets everywhere,

Throw in my two cents. When I picked up my car from the Kia dealer here in Albuquerque, the glass had hard water (calcium) rings on all of the windows and the sunroof. Bought some "BarTenders Friend" liquid version at Wal mart in the cleaning supplies area, followed the instructions on the bottle and it got rid of all the spots in one application. I now use this stuff on the glass shower doors in the house and it really does the job.
