What have you done to your Forte/Cerato/K3 today?

This type of thread has been done on a few forums I’ve frequented over the years. It’s generally become one of the more popular threads.

Basically, what have you done for your car lately? No matter how mundane - like washing it - or how spectacular - full coilover swap, tell us! And also, include photos if you can!

No noise when going through the gears at normal acceleration. Only when getting on it. Just so I’m clear.
I love it but am experiencing a weird noise under load in 1st and 2nd gears and remembered you said something about this in another post in Hamster’s thread:

I‘m going to tackle this in the next few days. Should be an easy fix.
Just for clarification, you took 1/8” off the right corners and 1/16” off the right edge correct?
Yep, same issue as me, and easy enough to fix. Correct, roughly 1/8" off right corners, 1/16" off right edge. I just hit it real quick with a belt sander. You might (or maybe not, idk) need to take off slightly more material since your car probably makes almost double the power of my puny (but fun) 2.0L.

Yep, same with me. Load in 1st, only at full throttle or close to it in 2nd.

Me, too. The noise evolved to a supercharger-like whine.

Interesting. It was loud enough for me that it sounded like it might harm something if I left it (plus it was annoying), so I shaved that edge and haven't heard it since, even when I dropped the clutch at 3 grand cutting someone off the other day.

I’ll try to get it done today. The rest of the week looks to be fairly busy.

Yeah! That’s what it reminded me of. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it until I read that.

What the hell are you guys talking about??? Haha... sorry I have read this 4 times and still can’t pinpoint the problem described... I’m just being nosey

The plate on the transmission upper mount insert is a little too big, and slightly contacts the chassis when under heavy load in lower gears, causing a noise and vibration to transmit through the body. Sanding away at the right edge fixes it.

Didn't take any unfortunately. It's pretty self-explanatory when installing it - you take off the little hatch in the driver side wheel well, support the engine, pull the two bolts connecting the upper transmission mount to the transmission, put in the bushing insert, and there's a plate that Powerflex supplies to keep the insert in place that you put on with the bolts. That plate, while it looks fine when installing, is a little too big, so you need to sand off or otherwise remove some material on the side of the plate facing the back of the car to keep it from making noise under heavy acceleration.

Got it done. Took like 15 minutes total. I can’t test it yet as traffic is pretty heavy right now but I’m sure it’ll be ok. Maybe I can get in it a bit tomorrow.

That’s where it rubs on the right side. That’s only about 15 miles worth of driving.

Wow yours is certainly worse than mine. I couldn't see where it was hitting after about 10 miles, after which I fixed it. Guess that's almost 300 hp compared to 147 LOL

Took the car out and put it to the test. Passed with flying colors. No more rubbing, whining, or chatter under load. Good stuff.

So in conclusion, if you install the street transmission mount insert from Powerflex, do yourself a favor and remove 1/8 inch from the right side and 1/16 inch from the corners of the plate.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the time. Getting prepared for our move. It’s coming up in 3 weeks and it’s been non-stop here. I finished the bath just before the sun went down. It would’ve been a great time as it was the golden hour but just too much to do.

Besides, ForteGT2 got the better photo posted lol

Spending a small fortune on my car lately. $4.99/gal for 91 octane around my area and upwards of $6/gal for 91 in the greater Phoenix area. Can’t afford to upgrade the car as I’m putting all my spare money in the tank. :cautious::cautious:
