cooler air is more dense so there for more hp.

But yeah I'd put a turbo on with this since the intercooler alone is not going to be moving huge amounts of air, you need the turbo to suck high amounts of air to make the intercooler a worth while add on, alone maybe{ Maybe} you gain 4 hp at best.. with turbo to force air at mass volumes throught the motor and intercooler can make major hp gains.

A turbocharger heats the intake air because compressing air creates heat AND the turbocharger itself is extremely hot...the intercooler is used to cool the compressed/heated air before it goes into the engine -- the intercooler is between the turbo and intake. Early Buick turbocharged Regals did not have intercoolers...the 86 Regals (T-Types and GNs) had intercoolers and everyone remembers them, but not the '85 and earlier non-intercooled T-Types.

Our cars have a cold air induction system -- it pulls in air from above and in front of the radiator -- an intercooler won't provide any measurable amount of power on our cars.

SX2.4 is correct, the heat comes from the exhaust which spins the turbo. If you don't run a intercooler you get hot boost. Its not efficient, but also raises cylinder temps/engine temps considerably. The intercooler cools the boost to eliminate this. This is not the case for superchargers because they are engine driven, thus no intercooler.

Superchargers are intercooled as well, just not all of them. Not all turbochargers are intercooled either, although there is little to be gained without one.
