I have looked this up on the internet for days with no luck. I cant figure out what it is or what its purpose is. My Mazda3 had it too. Any guesses?

The little circle vent thingy next to the AC button.

No, The mic is in the headliner.
This is the mic for your bluetooth,
I believe it is part of the dual climate control system (if installed) I think all Forte's have this even if the dual system is not installed.
Part of climate control.......auto air conditioning rather than duel....my bad:eek:, not all Forte's have auto air.
for your balls right? See i AM right.
Actually its a Mic for the drive up at Mickey D's, so you can get a jump on the cars in front of you:D
no the mic for the blue tooth is in the headliner and this is a temp sensor for the climate control if it is equiped in you koup i think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I drive barefoot a lot, I can feel the pedal very well lol
Its supposedly illegal here in NC but I can't really foresee getting a ticket for it lol
i always drive in sandals and my wife got her license here in NC driving with flip flops. just depends how gungho the cop that pulls you over is, i spose.
I have a EX sedan with the fuel efficient package. My Mazda did not have auto climate. I will see if it comes off today. There is a screen/mesh material behind the plastic vents so pretty impossible to see through without taking it apart.

As far as the flip flops, I don't drive in them either, I just threw them on to go out to my car to take the pic.

i meant just completely barefoot, I've heard from several people its illegal
a lot of people drive with flip flops though, esp in summer and at the beach, but I don't like wearing flip flops
This is for the auto climate control if equipped. If its not equipped its pretty much a hole in the dash lol .
Barefoot would be safer than driving with flipflops. A flipfop can fall off and jam in the brake pedal so you can't stop. Always wear strapped sandals or shoes when driving.
It's where the "Start Engine" button would be if your car had the push button start feature. Instead of making 2 molds for the Forte dash (one with the button and one without) Kia just used one mold for all models and put that nice little cover over the hole for any car that didn't need it. There has been a thread about this once before.

Nah... It's definitely a climate control sensor whether with or without climate control.
Well this saves me the time of ripping the dash apart to find out. Been sick the past few days and didn't want to venture out just yet.
... we might never know the truth..., LoL!!!
