The Kia Forte generally gets good marks for its longevity. PepairPal, for example, rates the Forte above average and will probably last 150,000-200,000 miles with proper maintenance.

Has anyone hit those miles? If so:

  • Year and model Forte?
  • What percentage of city and highway driving do you do? Do you live in a cold or warm climate?
  • How do you handle maintenance?
  • What problems have you encountered and when?
  • Does your car feel like it is worn out or still feels good? What parts feel worn out (steering, transmission, engine, etc.)?

I have a 2012 forte with almost 350,000 miles on it and still runs like new. It was my grandfather's car he bought new off the lot and was garage kept its whole life until I got it. I've been very impressed with how well it runs and drives and still looks new. Even underneath no rust and everything still looks new.

I have a 2011 Forte EX. Bought it used from an elderly man in 2016; he purchased it in Alabama and sold it in Pennsylvania when he was visiting relatives. It had ~113K miles in 2016, engine knocked and sounded like a diesel engine so we got a good deal on it. I’m still driving it in 2024, it has almost 215K miles on it, I drive economically and am gentle on the car, do routine maintenance with a local mechanic who has fixed a number of things including the oil valve seal which was leaking and dripped onto the spark plugs, caused the car to only be running on 2 cylinders for idk how long. The CEL shut off after that. Struts, shocks, brakes seem to need replaced more than other vehicles but the car gets about 35 combined and I do 75% highway and 25% city driving. I use full synthetic oil and change the oil every 5k miles. Never had a problem with anything else other than it needing routine maintenance more often than other cars do. I have a 10-year old CX5 but prefer driving the Forte daily as it’s more comfortable and responsive. Only downsides are no cruise control, manual door locks and crank windows in the Forte. But I will not part with it until Casper the Forte gives out.

Well, the wife has been in the hospital for 8 days now. She's unconscious and they don't know if she's going to live or die. I'm about to turn 156,000 miles on my Forte as the 140 mile round trips daily are adding up in a hurry. Any of you that read this and are believers, please pray for her. I'm getting worn out.

Great news, Guys. When I got there yesterday, she was awake and watching TV! When I spoke to her doctor on Friday, he said he was going to try her on a different antibiotic and some steroids. He said he was off for the weekend and if those didn't do something, he was going to be researching and brainstorming with the neurologist to come up with something different. Thank God that He gave Dr. Kahn the right recipe to bring her around. She's very dazed and confused, but at least they took her off most of the life support they had on her and she can communicate with the medical staff now. God is great all of the time and all of the time, God is great.

Well, she's even more clear headed today, so God is still working. Her doctor came in while our daughter and I were there and he said it's going to be another week to two weeks before she can come home. He plans on moving her out of the ICU to a regular room on the rehab floor. She hasn't walked in 11 days now and will have to get some physical therapy. She had a complete knee replacement on December 5th and the only PT she was getting was while she was at home and she was doing great. She didn't even need a walker, just a cane and half the time she was carrying it instead of using it. Now, she'll have to start all over again. The doctor is still angry that he hasn't figured out what exactly caused her downfall, but he's leaning towards the Covid virus and the fact that she has a compromised immune system. Maybe he'll do a study on her yet.

2011 forte ex 2.0 live in Ohio, it's my fiance's car, it is properly been named, Rocket!
The car has 214 thousand miles on it and the only issue it's had is I changed out the transmission with a used one that had 94 thousand miles on it and that was at 178 thousand miles so it is registered in our minds as the unheard of transformer that has not needed to reveal it's self yet!!
That being said the car is regularly maintenanced - oil changes, tire rotations, every other fill up gets Lucas injector cleaner and cylinder lube, and all other normal high mileage routine, I am going to be changing basically the entire front end steering and suspension parts here before long as it's starting to feel like she is getting a bunch of slack / play to it,so before anything terrible happens it will be get replacement parts from A to Z. My fiance is the Mario andretti of women driver's and I say this 100% legit, she does 0-60 as fast as possible every time after a stop sign or red light, she sees a stop sign and speeds up to make sure she has to slam the brakes on and she takes turn at break neck speeds to the point where the tires are screeching lol, so that is why we believe it is partially an alien, no other vehicle I've ever seen heard of or have owned could ever do what Rocket does daily! It is one of a kind for sure! I would use it as a commercial to sell kias if I was in the company and needed a way to help boost sales, this car is all the PSA Kia would need to most likely triple their vehicle sales! I'll post when I change out the front end and relay what all I found in the process of doing so. Thanks

2017 forte LX just rolled over 100k. Never had any issues really other than replacing battery until around 100k the car started having misfires randomly while idle and engine cuts off. It Throws these codes: "P0014 timing over advanced bank 1 p0017 crank shaft cam shaft position crank cam position bank 1 position sensor b p0304 cylinder 4 misfire". My 2013 forte started throwing the same codes around 138k miles. both cars always had regular oil changes etc. Never bothered looking into those codes on the 2013 because it had an emissions problem too and "carx" said they wanted 1700 to fix it after doing a smoke test so wasn't worth it for me to fix. currently diagnosing the 2017 tried replacing spark plugs so far. Next step is replacing the vvt intake and exhaust solenoids and the camshaft one that I have on the way right now. hoping that fixes it.

Is there anything any of you can recommend I keep an eye out for? I just got my Forte New in May 2024 so I’ve had it around 3-4 months I have put 7,000 miles on it 98% of it highway, I am already having a rattle noise coming from my right front passenger door area, I dropped it off at the dealership Friday to get this looked at as well an oil change and tire rotation, when I picked it up tho now they are telling me I have to take it back this week and leave it for 2 days or so that way a “ Specialist “ can look at it and find the source even tho I told them I only here it when I’m driving periodically but I think it may be getting worse so I am planning on just dropping it off at the dealership tomorrow or the following day

Mine has over 168,000 now. I just swapped it for my sons 2016 Soul. He's bitching about the 28 mpg he's getting and how the gas is eating up his paycheck. He drives 150 miles a day round trip to his job. I told him I'd take the Soul for a while so he can save some money, but I'm eventually going to want my Forte back. I'm not digging the Soul so much. I HATE this damned GDI engine. I've done two valve cleanings on it in the past 30,000 miles and it's still using some oil between changes. I just switched it to Valvoline Restore and Protect and will do a couple of changes at 3,000 miles with that to see if it improves any. I also just replaced the plugs, PCV and air filter in it. Yesterday I noticed a bulge in one of the tires and he told me he'd hit a pothole. Frigging 235/45/18 tires ain't cheap!
