Acceleration Issues

I recently bought a used 2023 KIA Forte GT/GT2 with 4900 miles on it. The only issue I have had is while driving and making a turn, typically to the right, as I press the gas pedal, it does not accelerate, but stays at current speed. It's not until I let off the gas pedal and switch to another mode that it starts to respond. It last about 5 - 10 seconds before it recovers and works as advertised. It's happened 3 times and I'm at a loss. Afraid to take it to the dealership only for them to say they can't duplicate it. Time and money lost. Anyone have any suggestions? Please let me know, thank you

I agree going to the dealership is a pain, but still:

- the car is under warranty and you want to document the problem even if they don't fix it the first time

- the dealership has a OBD scan tool where a skilled technician may be able to diagnose the problem even if it isn't doing it at the moment

- this generation Forte has been around since 2019 and they may have already seen the problem on another car (and a technical service bulletin issued)

- just by your description, a technician may have a good idea where to look even if the problem isn't occuring at that moment

On the last point, I would suspect a traction control or ABS issue. A CVT joint may be failing.

Putting the car up in the air on a lift may show suspension damage or fluid leakage.

Best to document the problem now while you still have a chance at a warranty claim.

By the way, one thing I've noticed when I take my car in for a warranty claim is that I'm not offered any paperwork when I leave. You want that paperwork to document that you took the car in for a problem. If you have such paperwork it is easier to argue, at a later date, that the issue occured under warranty.

Good luck.

mine dont like a hard right from a stop either. Like you are at a stop sign and have to hurry out for some reason. It lags a bit i thought it was just a safety thing like it dont want the wheel turned 2 much while hitting the pedal 2 hard

some of the safety on the 2024 is a little 2 much is why i just assumed it was that
