Did any of you have a screw that was painted black? Seems like it is to detect if we messed around with it.
I did this today and couldn't put the painted screw back in after it was adjusted? tried to move the sensor with it loosened, fail... had to remove it. Will this be an issue?

I did. It's the only screw with no side to side play. It seems like a wood screw, and probably in this case self tapping for plastic. You should put it in for safety.
did you just force it back in?

did you just force it back in?
It has a sharp point with the threads far apart. It should just sink right back in.

Make sure you have a phillips that fits the screw perfectly. Too small and it won't cut it. I also used a ratchet attachment instead of a screwdriver. gets right in there and enables you to tighten it at 90 degrees (straight in) rather than trying to work around the streering linkage.

As far as it being necessary? it's there for a reason, redundancy in safety. it's the only screw that doesn't allow movemnet even if it's loose. You don't want to lose control of your gas pedal.

I did this today without taking the part off and with the car running to watch the revs.. While doing I pushed it all the way forward but no change in revs. So then I decided to tap the pedal to see if it was improving. I thought I seen an improvement between forward and backwards.. So I screwed everything back in and got in the car.. Gearbox light was on and I couldn't figure out why. I turned it off and on but it was still on. Since my dealership was a mile away I drove it down there with no problems whatsoever. Me not thinking that it was sunday and no mechanics work on sundays lol.. I got there walked inside and someone from sales went out to look at it. When I turned the car back on the light was gone.. WEIRD. I don't see much of a difference in response but I'm not to sure if I did it right in the first place lol.

Has anyone had a problem with a consistently high idle after they did this mod properly? My friend (lead tech for Audi) and I set the throttle adjustment at .934 and all seemed fine for two weeks...
until last week when my idle started out at about 1500 and took about 10mins to get down to 700.
it's continued to act like this since. were going to get a reading again tomorrow to see if it moved. other than that any ideas?

Newbie reporting in.

Just did this mod about 10 minutes ago, didn't have tools to remove gas pedal though. I'm not even gonna bullshit people considering this mod. If you don't have the tools to remove the gas pedal, GET THEM. I'm a big guy myself, 6'1" large frame. I am SORE from having to contort and twist and bend to position myself properly to do this. And all that is just from loosening the screws and re-tightening them. The actual mod took me about 30 seconds. Positioned it right at 1.00 on the first try, was down to 0.95 after tightening. Deadspace on accelerator GONE!

i'm too lazy to check out the first post.haha. what's the purpose of this? work for automatic? right now the gas pedal is a bit touchy.

For an automatic like ours, the benefit is not as great as on the manual. You know that half inch to 3/4 inch of freeplay in your accelerator? How it doesn't IMMEDIATELY respond to the lightest touch? It gets rid of that.

It's more important for a manual because that 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch of freeplay is what's screwing everyone up and making them stall so much.

Hey guys, got a problem here, just did the throttle mod, everything went good, but when i drove my car, the check engine light is on and also, on first gear, when i pass 20 km/h the motor drop (revs) I really don't know what to do, I adjusted the sensor to 0.9v.

I have a 2012 forte koup ex maual

any ideas why?

It's all good now, I put the sensor back to 0,7v the check engine sign disapeared and reput the sensor back to 0,9 and everything work great now :) so happy, feels like a new car

first post!! hi guys this is my first post on forte forums. very nice site. ive hated the throttle in my koup 2.0 6 speed manual since i bought it, the car drives like a dream when up in speed take off's i dont find too bad but 1st - 2nd gear shifts make the car feel lazy like hesitant for a second, also 2nd - 1st gear shifts is basically impossible to get right, even driving in a parking lot when im just triing to feather the gas the car surges then lets off, it almost gives u whip lash sometimes it gets so bad. do u think this has to do with this throttle mod? if so then im definitly going to try it cause its beginng to drive me insane!! its fine in the country where i live but when i get into the city with traffic lights and tight parking lots its bad.

thanks for the help and very great write up on this throttle mod!

Does this mod have any effect on gas mileage; negative or positive? Damn, I've been asking a lot of questions lately. xD

No effect on gas mileage. I did mine months ago and still get the same 30mpg. It's worth doing, it's a subtle difference, but makes life easier when it comes to shifting.

Rumles, sorry, but I got a bit confused, have you done the throttle mod and are asking if all of the things you described have to do with it, or if doing it will help alleviate those things?
KoupEsEcks, have to ask questions to find out what you don't know. ;) Unlike Walpole though, I actually did notice a small difference in gas mileage. Then again, it may just be me. LOL
