Just an update of fuel mileage since i first changed the position. I never turned it back cause i wanted to see how if any timing advance would affect the fuel mileage. I'm getting better gas mileage and perhaps may be the best range Ive gotten on a tank of fuel to date. Once i need to refuel ill re-adjust back to what was recommended by fortesx and see what happens then. Yes my cruise is still working.

your right i just went out of town friday night (mine is all the way up) i was getting 34 mpg doing 85 mph. i dont know if this mod did it but my gauge is not off anymore my gps said 80 mph and my gauge on the car was 80 mph

OMG!!! I just did it.. I feels like I just gained 15HP at the pedal!... The car responds so much better... I can downshift into 2nd gear at 35mph very smoothly... Going to the dealer on Tuesday and see at what voltage the pedal is at!... I'm a happy camper! :D

Did you go full forward? I like how second is with the auto tranny when lightly accelerating. It feels like a more powerful car. Let us know your readings -- mine is at .88 volts at idle.

It does feel more powerful... I love driving it! :D

I didn't notice a huge difference but mine was pretty much in the middle from the factory...that being said it is better and my 16 yr old son who is leaning to drive will appreciate it....it's a 6sp manual and is always over reving at take of.

Thanks!

My idle is now at 1000 - 1100 rpm. I wanted to know if I should adjust the pedal? Thanks
Sounds like you advanced it full forward. Let it idle for a couple of minutes and then drive it...the idle should relearn and slow down. If it does not recommend you back off the cover from full forward about 1/16" to 1/32".

mine was in the middle too, but I did notice that the car responds a little quicker and I had no rpm issues at all, so yeah I'm happy with this cause it made it a bit easier to drive the car so thank you for this:)

Just want to confirm this also works on the 2.0L for all the other ex and lx owners. Going all the way forward did jump my idle up to 1500RPM. I adjusted it and got it down to about 1-1.1kRPM. Thanks for the info!

redone has to make several adjustement to get the idle to go down have the throttle
advanced 1/2 way anywere past that and the idle goes to 5k will drive in the a.m. and let youa all know thanks for the tip!!

It's best to position the cover so that you are not getting 1.0 volts or more. The only way to do this is with a ECM tool/diagnostic computer. Going full forward makes the ECU think the throttle should be open -- off idle. Try adjusting so that you have a 1/16" to 1/32" clearance between the screw and cover if you do not have the proper tools.

thanks forte 2.4sx that is where is set it, drove it today more throttle response, and quicker throttle response thanks for the heads up on this !!

With the right tools what is the way to test for voltage

I don't mind helping out, but...THANKS to Enviros for finding this!

Kia technician with a Kia laptop! They can plug into your OBD II port and read the voltage.

I also can do them with a scan tool that shows the TB (TPS sensor reading) opening -- look back to some of my earlier posts for the number -- I bought it at autozone.

Post #63:
Service Manager/Technician at my local Kia was using a diagnostic laptop connected to the OBDII port under the dash to read the voltage. I have an Actron CP9180 that reads the TPS sensor positions -- a TPS reading 17% to 19% will put you in the "ballpark" of 1.0 Volts. With the cover full forward I was getting a TPS reading of 20.2% (1.3 volts). My sedan's TPS registers 15.2% at idle -- probably .7 volts

But feel really stupid when I stall the bloody thing< and I've driven manual shift for years!!!

hahahah i havent driven a stick in 15 years.....
and here i am choking or over reving and chirpping tires.....
just waiting to get a ticket-...got all the ricers looking at me at the next light....but they think i wanna race them.........
buddy of mine- took him for the first passenger ride....at traffic lights- he was waving his hands around saying stuff.......
i asked him- WTF are you doing.........
he says....i am the next airbender- trying to get you room to launch this thing..............
lol- looking back on what the circumstances were- (less than 2 hrs driving my new car) - yeah- he saw that i needed a lot of room from launch or i was getting right up within 6 inches of the car at the stop light.......
i gotta admit- i've gotten real quick on the emergency restarts.......
esp. now that i remember to step on the clutch and not the brake in order to get the igntion fired up..........lol..
