Best Throttle mod ever

Want to improve your first gear take off? Want to get rid of that annoying dead-spot in your gas pedal? Do you have 10 minutes and a Phillips screwdriver? Then i have a mod for you.

First off i own a 2010 Forte SX sedan and i hated how the gas and clutch worked. Over reving the engine or stalling at the lights was a pain in my $&%^!!!

The gas pedal works by wire, no cable. The fix involves loosening 5 Phillips screws on the left side of the gas pedal. The screws hold the pick ups for the sliders feeler arms. Once the its loosened it can be repositioned by moving it in 1 of 2 directions towards the front of the car or back. Front of car will take out the dead spot and to the rear will give you a HUGE dead-spot. The pic is upside down and only shows 3 of the 5 screws and where the the wire plugs into it.

I took my pedal rite out and was going to mod it but then i noticed that there was room to slide it instead of hacking it up.

no havent done the mod yet, just wondering if these simtoms are because its not set proper, took a look at mine last night and it looked about neutral set but there it does seem to have a dead spot. will have to try this weekend. damn daylight savings time... dark when i go to work and is dark when i get home. lol.

Please forgive me if this has been asked before but will this mod do anything for my 2010 4 speed auto?

I know this is old thread but what a great mod i just did it last week and so far the best mod. I got a total new 1st to 2nd gear respond its even better than the light weight pulley that helped the issue.

Dude i did this last night and it's a lot harder than one would assume to get that fucking pedal out.. i just had difficulty unhooking the connector that was plugged into the pedal because i couldn't fit down there to reach it LOL.. not to mention i had a shallow socket which was struggling to work with the nut on the bottom right. Either way.. I nudged it over just a bit and I think i should have done it a bit more.. but i can already see an improvement.

I really feel like the car will waste more gas but i don't care it drives 500x better.

My neck hurt for 3 days I shut mention that having a short screw driver helps a lot and I didn't disconnect the sensor i just loos the screws and make move the plate got it right the second time.

how can adding something speed up the response? It still requires a signal from the pedal. Your adding a middle man. I still want one don't get me wrong, I just need to find 300 dollars.

I dont see solstices listed on their main site. Only the G8 is listed for Pontiac.

So does this do anything for the automatic or just for the manual?

The same happened to me the first time I changed them.

You will need a bit of imagination looking at pictures 6 & 7 above. You cant remove your bar end and therefore your grip is still in place. To gain access to the latches you need to be able to slide your grip up the bar. To do this you need to loosen both the started assembly and the throttle housing (pic 2). This allows you to the slide them and the grip up the bar exposing the latches that you can see in Pic 6 (still imagine the bar end is attached in this pic). When you press the latches in on both sides you will be able to remove the bar end and internals. Get it in a vice or use some pliers and remove the bar end bolt. Job Done.

I had ordered some parts for my bike a couple weeks ago and last week I installed them. Today (well yesterday now) was the 1st nice day that I could ride and see the results...


The Green Performance Air Filter I got they said was for a GSXR 1000 and would fit a 06. Apparently its for a 01-04 1k. So the only mod that I did (cleaning and oil change aren't mods) was the R1 throttle mod. I only payed $7 for a 07-08 R1 throttle tube so I'd start with it and if I want more go withthe 06+ R6.

:punk R1 Throttle :punk I love it. Best bang for the buck mod. The but Dyno says OMG :biggrin I know it didn't add any power but its sure alot of fun.

ok guys, i did the advance timing mod last night. The results from doing it is beyond expectation and to be honest astounding.

OK, my girlfriend has 2007 Honda civic (1.8 litre all stock) 2 door auto. I have the 2.0 sedan M3 auto. About two weeks ago we decided to do a lil drag racing, for shits n giggles. I thought i would have smashed her lil civic but Boy I was Wrong. WE did it from a dig, She immediately started to pull away from me about a car and half and held that for the entire race. Top speed we stop about 85 or 90. So last nigh i did the advance timing mod! I felt a difference today on my way to work, seem like all the laziness and hesitation was gone. I told my GF we had to do this race again! So this time the race went like this. I pulled her off the line and jumped a car ahead and stayed that way all the way to 90.

Many cars run engine coolant through the throttle body in order to warm it up so the throttle body doesn't get filled with ice due to a mix of cold temps, humidity, and condensation. This is done because car manufacturers cannot design a car to work for "most" people, they are expected to make cars that work in any condition.

Hey, Thanks.

I have seen one of those, and heard about another, but have been hesitant to mess with it. Didn't one of the write-ups circulating the boards require the use of a voltmeter? The "Best Throttle Mod Ever" doesn't. What's the difference between the two? Is one more effective than the other?

I may try this when I get home tonight. Seems simple enough. Thanks

I'm not a big "poster" (obviously with my post count at 1) but I felt compelled to with this mod.
Simple and surprisingly effective. Literally threw me back in my seat during the test ride, coming off my first stop sign.

so i brought my 2.0 in for servicing and i asked the dealer if they could "fix" the dead spot. they told me that there is no fix, also that i was the first person to complain about the problem. i asked if they could adjust the TPS to .99 because they got the tools to do it, and they told me that that wont make any difference. i just decided im going to go and do it myself this week,

I am so bummed! I was excited when I saw this mod but mine came adjusted already. Almost looks like the screws have been messed with by the dealership. I never really had the dead spot to complain about. I bought my 2.4 5DR SX 1 year ago this May.
