Interesting. Are you still under the entertainment warranty?
Is it hot where you live and do you park outside? Wonder if it got super hot and caused the screen to delaminate

Please call Kia corporate. I just did and they offered to pay f650%of the repair. I told them that wasn't good enough and they are going look into how many people call with the same complaints maybe it'll be a recall. Let your voice be heard please!

Hot in California. I usually park outside. It was ok for 3years. But now?!. I emailed to LG display which is the manufacturer in S. Korea. Let me see how they responds. Also, It looks out of warranty for audio entertainment which is 36mons 36000miles.

Is it the plastic manufacturing covering that you forgot to peel off when you first got the car? Sometimes it's really thin, and not noticeable.

Yes, I have a 2020 kia shortage. Bought new Sept 2019. Have the same problem bubble on LCD screen. Took to dealership. No help. Out of warranty by 2 months. Haven't heard back from Kia dealership for a goodwill policy to fix. Still waiting on return call after many attempts, no return calls from KIA Clearwater dealership. They have 1-2 cars a week with this problem.......FRUSTRATED!!! Will be close to $800 out of pocket to fix. What are the odds it will happen again. There should be a recall!!!

I just bought my 20 GT yesterday, and mine’s doing same thing on the right hand side of the screen.

Agree with the advice to document proof of the issue and report it to the dealer ASAP since the infotainment warranty is 3 years. My daughter's 2019 Forte LXS started having issues with a "ghost touch" on the screen and a bubble appeared on the right side. The screen is now basically unusable because the number of ghost touches overwhelms the processor and it bogs down. We are out of warranty and the dealer wanted a lot of money to even evaluate the problem. Now we are stuck shopping for used Kia infotainment units or maybe get an aftermarket stereo. Anyone had luck trying one of those solutions on a 2019+ Forte?

Mine started out like that. Right side, small bubble. It has now spread up, over the top and down the left side. Mine is a 2020 and I live in Florida. It does everything you have described. Please let me know if you found a resolution! My screen just started having phantom touches about 5 months ago and now it scans through stations. The bubble just appeared one day and grew over time.

The only solution I've heard so far is replacement. And for that, I just saw this thread for replacing new 10 inch screen on older Fortes so I might try.

Mine started as most have said, with a bubble on the right side and eventually spread across the top and down both sides. It doesn't affect function but it isn't pretty. I'm at dealership now for the anti-theft computer update and they quoted over $1000 USD with tax and labor, since my 2019 Forte LXS is just over 4 years old. I'm wondering if the same UV cureable clear adhesive used for cellphone screen repairs could be used to fill in the bubble with a long hypodermic needle?

After the 3 year warranty is up (mine is at 4 years now), replacement of the infotainment system is $3500.00. The dealer won't repair it, they sell you a brand new infotainment system and install it. Kind of sucks TBH. There's reportedly a repair center in my area who may be able to replace or repair the screen for only around $600.

I am tempted to try to remove the infotainment system and disassemble it, clean up the goo between the display and digitizer and reglue it with cellphone screen repair UV adhesive.

Another option (besides a wrecking yard):

i to have the same thing with my 2019 forte lxs. I talk to the dealership and they told me that my extended warranty will not cover it. but then they are trying to talk to kia to see if they can cover it in good faith.
So update the dealership said my extended warranty will not cover it and told me that kia is willing to spilt the cost.

I finally fixed my display today and it only cost me $199.99 +tax and some time to remove and disassemble the head unit.

I bought a replacement screen from eBay and replaced the screen myself. Warning: this is not for the faint of heart. Disassembly of the head unit isn't too difficult if you're good at doing these things but there are a couple of places where the case has internal clips and it takes some prying after removal of the screws, to get it apart.

I paid 199.99+tax for the replacement and it took about two weeks to receive it (from China). Compare to ~$2000 for a new year unit from KiaParts.com or ~$3000 for dealer replacement.

Literally the hardest part of the replacement was removing the old display from the front bezel since it's got large amounts of automotive 3m double adhesive foam on both sides and the display is GLASS. It will break while trying to get it out and all the permanent adhesive and liquified glue leakage has to be cleaned up before installing the new screen.

Here's the eBay link.

I was just cleaning my car and noticed the same thing. It looks exactly like the picture that started this string. Mine is also a 2019 Kia Forte. I have taken excellent care of this care and I am really upset. And as has been repeated over and over, Kia will not fix it under warranty. I will help however is needed to support getting Kia to fix this.

Sorry, one last post. It has also been suggested that heat is the problem. I live in Missouri and while it gets hot in the summer, it gets below freezing in winter. Certainly Kia has taken outdoor temperature into consideration when developing their vehicles. This issue is an expensive manufacturer defect.

The original poster of this thread made reference to contacting LG (the manufacturer of the display) and he posted their reply back in Aug 2022 stating that they were aware of the issue for some time and were working to fix it in future production.

The issue is that over time the transparent glue that bonds the screen to the digitizer and LCD starts to liquify and run out the bottom of the display. My theory is that there is some sort of chemical breakdown in the UV-cured adhesive over time that makes it revert back to its liquid state, most likely not from excess heat but from UV exposure.

Replacement of the display inside the bezel of the head unit is the cheapest most reliable way, if you are capable of device teardown and rebuild. I was leery of buying refurbished or junkyard units though, because there is no telling how old the display in the unit is, and when it too will start to bubble and delaminate.

If your not capable of teardown and rebuild, you may be able to find a local shop that can pull it out, repair it (replace the display) and reinstall it for you. I checked locally in Dallas TX and I was looking at about $600 or more for a shop to do the work, IF they had the parts on hand.

You might get a relatively decent price from your local dealer to replace with a new unit too (I've seen prices just under $1000 in this thread) but that was too much for my liking. New units from kiaonlineparts are around $2000 of more.
