Been having this issue as well. I will leave the garage/parking garage and get on the highway. It seems particularly if there is a temp difference it will not turn on until I restart the car. The problem has been documented multiple times at the dealership and they still have not fixed it. Replaced many parts (steering wheel, cruise computer, wiring harness (I think)) all to no avail. I have sent letters to the service manager and Kia Corporate. Awaiting to see what they will do next.

Once you have the cruise control turned ON, there is NEVER any reason to turn it OFF.
Since we're dredging up old threads, I want to prevent this bad advice from propagating further. The cruise control switch is like a lightbulb. The longer it is left on with electricity running through it, the closer you are to the parts end of life. Always shut the cruise control button off when not in use. My parents made this expensive mistake with their caravan and it cost them $700 to get it fixed.

I hate to revive an old dead thread but I bought my Forte less than a month ago and I am having cruise control issues... I wanted to post here before I called the dealership.

Same problem as everyone else... under normal operation, sometimes I'll try to turn on Cruise and nothing will happen, the cruise light will not come one the instrument panel...

I pull over, turn off the car, turn it back on and cruise works again.

Can somebody help?
