ok so i've looked around the forum looking for complete details on how to install an HID kit. Haven't found anything for people like me who suck when it comes to electronics. So with help from my pops, i'd figure i'd give a complete write up with pics. All pics are in order.....
1. remove the 2 bolts on top of the housing. remove the housing. its a pain and you'll need to muscle it out, just becareful not to break anything. It took me about 10 mins just to pop out the one on the driver side. the passenger side was a little easier.
2. remove the harness. just push the tab down and it pops right out.
3. this is the dirt cover everyone is talking about. it just screws right off.
4. the old bulb!! not really plugged in, just twist it counterclockwise.
5. this is the bulb removed
this is the dismantal part. install will be part2
Might be funny, but i installed them in the reverse lights for a buddy. It's easier than it sounds (untill you start melting part of the tail light).will HID's work in my tailights too and will they void the warranty back there?
The backorder emails are usually 1-2 days after order.
I'd like to add something to the installation:
Learn from my mistake. My H11 kit came w/ a socket on the end. i removed the spades from the socket and just plugged in as shown. Mistake was that i did not insulate the spades. As you can see in the original post the spades have black shrink wrap around the base of the spades. Mine did not have this. The spades shifted and contacted each other and caused the fuse in the engine compartment to blow.
So in the installation add some red colored shrink wrap tubes and insulate from the wire to the "teeth" on the spades. Save yourself the headache.
It was the DDMTuning KitI'll make sure to add this to the original thread. where was your kit from?
Alright Kidosssss, yes an opinionated one. do you have to insult people because they don't buy the stuff you do? talk about maturity.
being smart??? and if you feel like showing off your "mods" might as well start a thread to discuss it, or maybe contribute and create a DIY.noodile -
Glad you cleared that up.... I've been wasting HOURS trying to Google "DiodeDynamics Silly" and couldn't seem to find it.......
Truthfully, this is one of the best DIY threads that I have seen on here. But.... didn't anyone else install a Wolo BigBoy horn like I did? Or the KIA Factory Remote Start like I did? sigh.......
you have a sound clip of the horn.... i hate pulling up to people looking all cool, and then beeping my Uber gay horn! that thing has to go! lolnoodile -

I have a 55w HID on my low beam/high beam and fog, no one have wiring harness and everything works great! So I don't have to get the Wiring Harness if I'm installing the 35w on the lowbeams? Also about the Harness, is it the Error eliminator or the HID Harness if I do need it or should get it. I just want to make sure before I order them. Nice write up! can't wait to get these in!
