Afternoon all,

I'm looking to completely replace majority of the front end suspension components on my 2011 Forte 2.0L. The car is coming up on 480,xxx km (~300k miles). I have never replaced anything with the exception of the sway bar links recently. I am also getting a fairly significant vibration while driving above 80km/h (50mph). Of course there are several different causes of this but I figure the suspension could use a refresh at this point anyways. I can't decide how many things I should be replacing but so far I was planning on the following:

  • Inner/Outer tie rods
  • Lower ball joints
  • Control Arms
  • Hub and bearing assembly (vibration issue?)

Also toying with also replacing:
  • CV axles
  • Strut tower/assembly

Has anybody done all of these components and can you recommend anything/give any tips if I should be doing anything extra? I'm not looking to put in an expensive/higher performance aftermarket - I just need something as good as OEM. I will likely purchase from Rock Auto for majority of these items. The only wheel hubs they have available at the moment are OEM (372$) and some 20-30$ ones which I assume are basically garbage. Any advice or recommendations on after market quality suspension parts?

Thanks guys,

I would start with replacing the struts and see how it feels after. There's no point in replacing so many other parts if they're still good (even if they have some mileage on them).

I went with the Mando complete strut assembly from RockAuto and I like them so far.

This was kind of the last thing I had on the list for replacing, I know for sure the control arms are pooched. I can see the front bushings are completely gone when I have the wheels off. Any particular reason you'd replace struts fist of all those items?

Ah if they're pooched, then yeah it makes sense to replace them.

I recommended the struts first cuz they recommend replacing them every 80,000-100,000KM and if you're at 480k KMs, they most likely aren't working very well. The other parts don't really have a recommended replacement interval; just when the bushings wear out.

Like the wheel bearings, if you don't have any noise or play in the wheels, they should still be fine.

Definitely have some noise in the wheels which gets louder as speed increases and vibration as well at high speeds.

I just had all of these things done, and now the ride is not as smooth. Before my car was zipping along. Now it feels heavy and stiff while driving. I am trying to figure out why that is.
