LS1 swapped RX8. Better fuel economy than the Renesis, actually makes power and keeps it's awesome handling because the weight is within 50lbs. If the swap kits weren't so damn expensive, I'd have made myself a swapped LR4 with cam and FAST intake long long long ago.

Did some auto stick driving last night.

Yeah, I also have the tip-tronic paddle shifter. Just bump the shifter up or down it will auto shift if you let it rev too high tho.
Till last night I had only played with the auto stick a few times, my wife drives the koup more often than I since she has to travel further for work. I mainly used the paddle shifters when I did play with it previously. I was inspired by this post to go tear it up a little so the wife and I drove out to some un-developed areas that have paved roads and no homes and really put a beating on it. I was impressed this time I used the floor shifter 1st 2nd and 3rd were really fun screaming through tight corners avoiding pot holes and downed trees on the neglected roads. My wife was like I like how the engine sounds I was like "welcome to the higher rpm range and just wait till I get intake and exhaust done." The real difference was not being able to load power on the clutch and the I actually hit rev limiter this time around.

paddles or floor shift....?

paddle shift = near straight line
floor shifter = the twisties

Have had both and paddles are a cute little gadget.

I like a combination of power and handling. Without boost none of these 4bangers we drive are "fast" in the straight line. While growing up there were not many 4bangers that could run faster than 24 seconds in the 1/4 mile so things have come a long way. But hey we had small block Camaros & Mustangs so it didn't matter. I had a drag cars and had a ball at the strip most of my life. I had a number of Camaros, in 1970 I bought a RS 350/300hp out of Barstow Chevrolet. Just getting back from my first tour in NAM. I was heading home and what insane great, outfreakingstanding drive it was. When getting there I ran into a buddy of mine and we were heading across the Skyline Parkway to a party. Look up Skyline Parkway Duluth Mn on google earth. Some nice twisties and that Camaro was the best handling car I ever drove or rode in across the Skyline up to than. I could not keep up to my buddy Jim ..... catch him on the straights but he could out brake me, out corner me with ease. He was driving 1971 240Z. Not fast by the standards, but light, quick, and big brakes. Damn I fell in love big time. When I got out the Marine Corps in 72 I went to work on the Camaro and Jim and his now modified Z240 could not keep up with me on the Skyline. Now I bet a 2.0-2.4L Koup with stock tires would outrun both of us on the Skyline as they were on those tires. Straighline not so much. On modern tires not so much. A new boosted KOUP may just run both of them ragged as they were. Cars and 4bangers have come a long way. Oh and yes a manual transmission would be best for running the Skyline........

We all have options on what we like (auto or man pedal.....lol) get the one that's best for you to enjoy the drive, you have to drive it not others. I believe forte owners got there cars because it's a great car for the money.

I love reading all the engine swaps threads. If you need more power I would of looked at others cars with lots more power. Just my option

The best part is 99.99% of the morons that want to do engine swaps on the 2 year old car they drive can't change freaking oil. But they know everything about turbo's, well all they read about turbo's that is.

Auto/manual: It's not just preference.......some cars do not come with an auto trans, and some cars do not come with a manual. Many times a manual trans car has the small engine and very little in creature comforts.

I bought an automatic because I live in the city and it's a pain to own a manual when you are constantly stopping and going, not because I'm an inexperienced driver.

Then why teach them how to drive a stick? Wouldn't it have been easier/faster to teach in an auto and leave out the part about the third pedal (especially starting off uphill)?

Ah.... a rarity in today's world. Do they also think for themselves? If so, these may be the last of their kind!

I drive my manuals in any conditions. It's no more of a pain than anything else. I'd rather have my manual in S-N-G than an auto most days. I can coast behind the people riding their brakes and not have to use mine. Although, I do have to admit the clutch on the bike in an hour of S-N-G is a bit tiring. The fingers get sore on that.

lol this thread is AMAZING lolol

I prefer Automatics... Less room for driver error!
In my older hot rods, all my automatics performed better than my 4-5 speed trannys.
and its also impressive doing a 12.1 sec quarter mile with an automatic =)
shoot my truck landed a 13.2 with a auto on the column! =)
